After losing to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 278: Usman vs. Edwards 2, Jose Aldo has decided to walk away from MMA.

Aldo's management team negotiated the end of his UFC contract despite the 36-year-old having one fight left in the organization.

The news comes less than a month after Aldo’s most recent fight, a unanimous decision loss to Merab Dvalishvili at UFC 278 that snapped a three-fight win streak.

Aldo had won his last three fights in a row, beating the likes of Rob Font, Pedro Munhoz and Marlon Vera.

Aldo also holds notable wins over some of the best ever to compete at 145 pounds, including Frankie Edgar, Urijah Faber, Cub Swanson, Ricardo Lamas.

Cejudo said “I was supposed to fight him right before the pandemic happened, and that event ended up being canceled.”

He earn a reputation in his 18-year career as one of the greatest fighters in combat sports history.

Sometimes you can be given Hall of Fames in the UFC, but this one is truly, truly earned, and he’s one of the greatest of all time.”
